Classical
As a percussionist, Bickram Ghosh figures prominently
amongst the best in the world. He has a number of solo
recordings and over forty accompaniment albums. He has
played on the album “Full Circle” with Ravi Shankar
which was awarded the grammy. For many years, he has
accompanied Ravi Shankar as his prime accompanist. He
has played with all the stalwarts of Indian Classical
music (Amjad Ali Khan, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ali Akbar
Khan, Dr. Balamurlikrishna etc) and is widely recognized
for his incredible range on the tabla.
He has played time and again at renowned auditoriums
like the Carnegie hall, NY, The Royal Albert hall,
London, The Barbican Centre, London and The Kennedy
Centre, Washington DC. He is one of the very few tabla
players who is equally at ease in both the Hindusthani
and Carnatic music traditions.
Bickram has over 40 classical CD releases worldwide.

International Collaborations
Internationally, Bickram has performed with many great
pop, Jazz and Western Classical artists. Some of the top
names he has worked with are George Harrison (Bickram
plays on the latter’s posthumously released CD
Brainwashed on the title track and was the lead
percussionist on Harrison and Ravi Shankars platimun
disc Chants of India), Yosi Levy and Ilan Salem
and Mstilav Rostropovich.

Fusion and World Music
One of the pioneering forces of the New-Age movement in
India, Bickram Ghosh is widely acknowledged to have
created a “new sound” with his maiden album Rhythmscape
which was released some years back. (The band
Rhythmscape is one of the most popular new-age
performance outfits in the country today and performs
across the globe). Thereafter he has tirelessly
experimented with different sounds, be it a world music
take on bangla folk (the much-acclaimed album Folktail)
or the song album Samaa where he collaborated with
Bollywood artists like Shankar Mahadevan , Shaan and
Antara Chowdhury.

Bickram is scoring music for top notch Bollywood and
Tollywood films.
Iti Srikanto
, Hothat Neerar Jonnyo(received the Zee award for
best music director), Shatabdir Golpo (starring
Debosree Roy), Devaki (Hindi and English
starring Perizad Zorabian and Suman Ranganathan) are
some of the films Bickram has scored the music for.
He has received accolades for his score in the
Television series Ekdin Protidin and Lal
Trikon.

Actor
Bickram has acted in two bengali films, both Hothat
Neerar Jonnyo (opposite Jaya Seal -they
received the award for most promising on- screen
couple) and Choy (opposite Rupa Ganguly and
directed by Anjan Dutt) are films where he plays
the male lead.
Videos
Bickram has appeared on a number of music videos
including his hit videos Kal saari ratiyan
(from his album Samaa which went into the MTV
International Charts) Allah Meherbaan (Folktail)
and Interface.
His Bengali video Neel Rajar Deshe is on air.
Lecturer
Bickram has worked as a lecturer of music at the reputed
Viswa Bharati University (Shantiniketan) and Rabindra
Bharati university (Kolkata). He has been a guest
lecturer at Bennington College, New York and at the
Rimon School of Music ,Tel Aviv, Israel.
Education
Bickram studied at LaMartiniere for Boys, Calcutta. He
completed his graduation in English from St Xavier’s
Colllege, Calcutta and finally his Masters in English
Literature from Jadavpur university , Calcutta.
